What is safer sex?
Safer sex is a term used to describe sex with fewer risks. Safer sex can mean taking part in sexual activity other than intercourse, such as kissing and fondling, and protecting yourself from Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) by always using condoms. (See the section on Safer Sex in the Young People's section for more information). If you practise safer sex and you're far less likely to pick up an STI, including HIV.
