What is the c card scheme?
c card is a service offering you access to free condoms with minimum embarrassment.

How does it work?
To get your free condoms you will need to register at one of the c card registration points. Once you have registered you can then pick up free condoms from distribution points by just showing your c card.

How do I register?
You go along to a c card registration point, the only information you will be asked to supply is your name, the first part of your postcode and your date of birth. You will also have a chance to have a confidential and private chat about condom choice, sexual health or relationship issues.

You will then be given your c card which you will need to show at distribution points before you will be given your free condoms.

What happens once I've registered?
All you will need to do is show your c card at the distribution points.

What if I am under 16?
The law says that you are not allowed to have sex under the age of 16. However, sometimes people start sexual relationships before this age, or might want to try out condoms on their own to see what they're like. If you are under 16 you can still access confidential support or services. Staff will have a private chat with you about relationship issues in order to make sure you have understood any sexual health information you have been already given and that you are safe. They will give you any additional sexual health information you may need.

The people at c card are friendly and welcoming and will not tell anyone else about your conversation unless they think you are at risk of serious harm. They will always talk to you about this before telling anyone else.

You will be asked to return to the registration point every 6 months just to make sure you are still ok and that nothing has changed since your last visit.

Where are the c card registration and distribution points?
The scheme will be launched on a small scale early 2007 as it develops more c card registration and distribution points will be added. Keep a look out for promotional material and look at the Where Can I Get Help section?
